Predictions from NOAA station Santa Barbara, near Santa Barbara. The station is in Santa Barbara Harbor. These are predictions, not live readings. How we use NOAA tide data
These are tides for Santa Barbara, California, predicted by NOAA for its station in Santa Barbara Harbor. NOAA also predicts the tide at Gaviota State Park, about 50 km to the west, and at Rincon Island, off Mussel Shoals, about 24 km to the east, and both stay within a few minutes of the harbor. So Santa Barbara tides on this page also serve the beaches in between, from Goleta to Carpinteria.
If you are planning weeks ahead, start with the calendar: it gives the lowest daylight tide for every day of this month and next, so you can pick a date at a glance. For the coming seven days, the tide schedule lists every high and low with sunrise and sunset, and the high tide list after the calendar shows the next highs. The page ends with the tide pool days and two spots on the county coast.

Coal Oil Point, near Isla Vista
Coal Oil Point is on the Santa Barbara County coast west of the city, near UC Santa Barbara and Isla Vista. When the tide drops, a broad reef there comes out of the water and leaves a great many pools behind, home to giant green anemones, California mussels, tidepool sculpins, sea hares and sea stars. The point lies inside Campus Point State Marine Conservation Area (No-Take), so look at them and leave them where they are.
Carpinteria State Beach
East of the city, Carpinteria State Beach mixes several shores in one park: tide pools, an estuary where birds rest, sand dunes, and natural tar seeps that go back to the last Ice Age. California State Parks runs programs there on the tide pools, the tar seeps and the harbor seals.
Carpinteria also has a harbor seal rookery. From December 1 to May 31 each year, while the seals have their pups, the City of Carpinteria closes the beach for 750 feet on either side of the Casitas Pier (city seal watch page). The Seal Watch Overlook on the Coastal Vista Trail stays open through the closure, so you can still watch the seals from there; they are protected by federal law.
From Gaviota to Rincon
NOAA’s predictions for the harbor and its two neighbors, set side by side for the 30 days from October 1, 2026, show how far the harbor times carry. At Gaviota, the highs and lows usually sat about 5 minutes from the harbor’s and never more than 21 minutes, with heights a few hundredths of a foot apart and never more than 0.2 ft. At Rincon Island the typical gap was also about 5 minutes, the largest 28 minutes, and heights stayed within about 0.15 ft.
Both tide pool spots above are on that stretch of coast: Coal Oil Point on the Gaviota side of the harbor, Carpinteria on the Rincon side. Expect their low tides within a few minutes of the times in the table.
