Predictions from NOAA station Newport Bay Entrance, near Newport Beach. The station is on the jetty at the harbor entrance, not on a beach. These are predictions, not live readings. How we use NOAA tide data
The Newport Beach tides here are NOAA’s predictions for the entrance to Newport Harbor, where the station stands on the jetty at Corona del Mar. A second NOAA station in town, at Balboa Pier, feeds our Huntington Beach page instead; the note on the harbor entrance further down shows how closely the two agree.
This tide chart for Newport Beach gives the next high and the next low tide equal room at the top. The Newport Beach tide forecast for the week follows, then the daylight low tides month by month, the tide pool days with notes on Little Corona and Corona del Mar, and the grunion runs.

Little Corona
Little Corona is a beach in Corona del Mar, close to Corona del Mar State Beach, reached by a path that starts near the corner of Poppy Avenue and Ocean Boulevard. When the tide is out, its rocks hold pools where the Newport Beach Independent lists hermit crabs, shore crabs, sea anemones, mussels, limpets and sea stars, with an octopus now and then.
The city’s tide pool rule covers Little Corona: on every beach from Corona del Mar State Beach south, nothing may be taken out of a tide pool, not even for a moment.
Corona del Mar
Corona del Mar is the part of Newport Beach on the east side of the harbor entrance, and NOAA’s tide station sits at that entrance. Its state beach borders the northern part of Crystal Cove State Marine Conservation Area, and its shore is a mix of coves, natural arches and rocky outcrops. The city’s tide pool rule begins at this beach and runs south from it.
Crystal Cove, nearby
Crystal Cove State Park lies along Pacific Coast Highway between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach. Its shore has at least four tide pool areas, at Reef Point, Rocky Bight, Pelican Point and Treasure Cove. The Laguna Beach tide chart page has more about the park.
Harbor entrance and open beach
The station stands on the harbor entrance jetty rather than on a beach, so does its timing hold on the ocean side? NOAA also publishes predictions for Balboa Pier, on the open beach. Across 30 days of predictions from September 30, 2026, the two stations’ high and low tides were typically within about 4 minutes of each other, and never more than 18 minutes apart, with heights within about 0.1 ft. So these times work for the ocean beaches of Newport as well, as a forecast: none of it is a Newport Beach tide report read off the water today. The Huntington Beach tide chart uses the Balboa Pier predictions.
Grunion runs in Newport Beach
The next season's schedule has not been published yet. Expected runs are posted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
